Sunday, 17 August 2008 18:58

For the first time since 1984, and in the club's 40th year, Rhoose won the Wilkinson Sword aggregate trophy after 3 days of competition at Aberavon.

Some of the team including a very proud Team Manager, Dave Wedlake and equally proud Club Captain, Dave Cooper

Congratulations to Rhoose lifeguards for achieving the highest Suf Lifesaving Honour in Wales by winning the

Welsh Surf Lifesaving Ocean Championships 2008

The club would like to thank all the hard work put in by every member of Rhoose Lifeguards not just on the day but through the training sessions over the past few months. Also the time and energy put in by the coaching staff and parent helpers has been exceptional, turning up in all weathers to offer every  member of the club the best training programme any club in the country would be envious of. Our thanks also to the Masters for their support of the team, and finally a huge thanks to the parent and family support not just over the weekend but through the whole year ensuring craft and equipment is ferried to and from events, children arrive on time and regularly for training  and your massive contribution to the current success story of Rhoose Lifeguards.

If the Nipper Ocean Championships had also been added to the aggregate score as originally requested by some of the clubs

Rhoose would still have come first with 5479.5

Mumbles would have been second with 4689

Pen-y-Bont would have been third with 4193.50
