Nipper Training Friday 4th Sept

Nipper and Nipper Junior Training returns to Barry Island This Friday 4th Sept

After a fantastic effort by the Nippers competing for their club at the various event over the summer holidays, all Nipper age groups will return to Barry Island for training this Friday in preparation for our LAST Carnival of the year at Pen- Y - Bont on Sunday.

Training will be at the usual time of 6.00pm and Nipper Juniors can bring over their or the club mals for their training session.

Pen - Y - Bont's Carnival will be on Sunday 11 am start with 10.30 am registration and meeting. I hope that as many Nippers from the club will support this event as it will be the last Carnival of the season.

Senior Team 5th, Masters Teams 6th at GBs

The Senior team came 5th and Masters teams from Rhoose Lifeguards  came 6th in the National Surf Lifesaving Championships held at Tolcarne Beach, Newquay from August 20-23.

 

In the Seniors events, the ladies squad came 4th, the mens 6th, with several national titles between them.

 

In the Masters events, the team of 5 all returned with both individual and team medals.

 

Masters:

 

The Masters team of 5 won 16 medals, made up of 6 Gold, 6 Silver and 4 Bronze. They were placed 6 overall.

 

Medal winners were:

 

Dave Cooper - 50-54 - 2nd Swim, 2nd Board, 2nd Ski, 1st Ironman

Karen Harris - 40-44 - 1st Board, 1st Ski, 1st Ironman, 2nd 1KM, 2nd Sprints, 1st Flags

Simon Parker - 40-44 - 3rd Ironman

Gareth Harris - 45-49 - 3rd Ironman

Steve Edgerton - 50-54 - 1st 1KM, 3rd Sprint

 

130+ Ski Relay - 3rd

50+ Double Ski - 2nd

 

Seniors:

 

The Seniors team won 7 medals, made up of 2 Gold, 2 Silver and 3 Bronze. They came 5th overall.

 

Medals winners were:

 

Lana Evans - 1st Swim

Leanne Martlew - 1st Flags, 2nd Sprint

 

Womens Ski Relay - 2nd

Womens Beach Relay - 3rd

Womens Rescue Tube - 3rd

Aberavon Nipper Carnival - on this Sunday, 23rd August

The Aberavon Nipper Carnival is back on for this Sunday, 23rd August.

Alan Wadey is taking a team down there as Team Manager. The competition starts at 10:30am, so please can people arrive for around 10am.

 

The proposed events are as follows:

Board Race

Board Relay

Taplin Relay

Beach Flags

Beach Sprint

Beach Relay

500m / 1km Run

Nippers & Juniors excel at GB champs

At the National Champs held at Falmouth over August 14-17, Rhoose Nipper section came 6th, and the Juniors came 3rd.

 

The Junior competition was won by Woolacombe, with Rhoose just 120 points behind Saunton in 3rd.

 

 

Nippers:

 

The Nipper Team won 21 medals, made up of 10 Gold, 4 Silver and 7 Bronze. They came 6th overall.

16 Rhoose members make the Welsh Teams

At the presentations at Porthcawl yesterday, the Welsh Junior and Senior teams were announced. Rhoose provided 16 members of the various teams:

Junior Team (10 out of 24) : Lana Evans, Lucy Curtis, Jack Giddings, Simon Perry, Rhys Perry, Charlie Grandfield, Alex Varney, Anthea Young, Dan Owen, Sean Giddings.

Senior Team: Leanne Martlew, Lana Evans.

Senior Development Team: James Grandfield, Jack Giddings, Tanara O'Neill, Lucy Curtis.

Big congratulations to all those that made the team - the club is very proud of your efforts.
Well done also to those made made the Development Squad these past few weeks but didn't make the final team. Hopefully you can make it next year.
