Rhoose Lifeguards get a New Board Trailer
Wednesday, 30 June 2010 14:25

Rhoose Lifeguards has been very fortunate to be able to purchase a new Board Trailer with the money raised by one of its Coaches Mr Steve Baron during his fantastic achievement of running and completing the Cardiff Half Marathon. Along with his sponsorship, Steve also gained support from his employer A.X.A. Insurance with a donation for his achievements.

The balance of the funding was gained from another very generous donation from The Co-Operative Foundation through the hard work of our fundraiser Sian Baron.

This trailer will allow safety equipment and craft to be transported around the country to various activities and events currently being carried out by the members of the club.

Rhoose Lifeguards is one of the fastest developing clubs in Surf Lifesaving and Craft and Equipment sponsorship like the above is a fantastic support to the young members from the age of 7yrs through to 18yrs old to enable them to progress and develop through the clubs excellent activities and provide the safest training equipment and enviroment the club can offer.

The Club and its members would like to send a big thanks to Steve, AXA and The Co-Operative Foundation for their

very generous support of Rhoose Lifeguards

Rhoose Ski Race 2010

Race Report & Results

Over 70 paddlers competed in the first race in the GB Ski Series at Fontygary Bay, Rhoose hosted by Rhoose Lifeguards on Sunday May 9th 2010.

The combination of a stiff north easterly breeze, an incoming tide and a long 6 km loop made for a real test of both skill and stamina. It was either into the wind and with the current, or with the wind and against the current. However, there were some nice runs on the downwind section for those able to catch them.

Many thanks to all those that took part, to those that helped to organise the event and provided the BBQ, drinks and cakes. Special thanks to the IRB crews, especially Richie Harrison for bringing the boat up from Saunton.
